These places are among the best places to get an amazing view of the city. Most of these viewpoints are open until late in the night, so you can see the city in the daylight, or look upon the vibrant and colorful lights at night. When you come to NYC, be sure to check out a few of these iconic viewpoints of the Big Apple.
The One World Trade Center is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. The building stands as the main structure in the World Trade Center, and among other facilities, houses the One World Observatory. The Observatory is held on three floors of the building, offering a 360 degree view of the city, along with exhibits and restaurants. See the city from the 100th to 102nd floors of the building. The Top of the Rock is a beautiful rooftop access-point over Rockefeller Center. Stand on the 70th floor air deck and you can see across the city. The Top of the Rock is a great place to see the juxtaposition of Central Park’s greenery surrounded by the beauty of the city. There are a number of interactive exhibits there as well, including a tribute to the iconic “Lunch Atop a Skyscraper,” which was taken during the construction of the building itself.
The Empire State Building Observatory offers two options. The main floor for the observatory is the 86th level. From here, you can see far out in every direction from the outdoor observation deck. This platform has been a feature in countless shows and movies. For a more exclusive view, you can ascend to the 102nd floor. On a clear day, visibility from this level can reach 80 miles.
This view isn’t high up in the sky, but it is probably the most important in our list. Countless people have seen this breathtaking view, flooded with emotions of hope, nervous for the next step in their lives. Ellis Island, the port for immigrants coming to New York City. While the last immigrant came through the immigration center in 1954, the island is open to the public. There are plenty of exhibits and things to do on the island; but the view of the city is something to behold. From the small island, you can fully see the beautiful New York City skyline.
