Spring is coming to NYC. Soon the leaves will begin to grow back, and the days will get warmer and longer. But the best part about Springtime in New York City? The Flower Festivals in April. There are four different festivals that happen each Spring; so try to check one out during your next visit.
The New York Botanical Garden’s Orchid Show is already started. The longest of the four, this event started in February and continues until April 9th. This year’s theme focuses on Thai culture. Thailand is home to over 1,500 species of orchids. Take in the sights and smells of the beautiful flowers while taking in the cultural aspects of Thailand. Enjoy cocktails and Thai-inspired live music and dance numbers on certain nights during the festival. For more information, visit nybg.org/exhibitions/2017/orchid-show.
Macy’s Flower Show is a spectacular 2 week event where the flagship superstore is transformed with beautiful flower arrangements and displayed. Shop to your heart’s content, surrounded by flowers to welcome in the Spring. This year’s theme is Carnival, and we are excited to see what they have in store for the event. The show will be held from March 26th to April 9th. For more information, visit social.macys.com/flower-show.
Experience the combination of Spring and spirits with the annual Daffodil Celebration & Wine Weekend at the New York Botanical Garden. You get a souvenir wine glass and full access for the day to the extensive grounds, but the full festival takes place a Daffodil Hill in the garden. Enjoy locally made wines, as well as those shipped in from all over, as you enjoy the scenery of over 300,000 daffodils opening up and taking in the Spring sun. There will be live music as well as talks from wine experts on the science of wine-tasting. This one day event will be held on April 29th. This event takes place in the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, and features a Japanese tea room, a flea market, and an art gallery. The event also has a full schedule of shows, featuring unique acts from stand-up comics, Japanese rock artists, Samurai sword-masters, cosplayers, and traditional Taiko drummers.
