Your day begins when you meet your guide in your hotel lobby where you'll head out for your visit to the iconic Statue of Liberty, followed by a trip to Ellis Island. You'll travel like a local, via NYC subway as your guide prepares you for what to expect on your visit and shares with you some of the histories of New York City. Before you know it, you've reached your stop at Battery Park where the ferries depart for Liberty Island. As you make your way through Battery Park your personal guide will give you the inside scoop on the park, its monuments and it's deep, fascinating history.
Your guide will lead you to the Reserve Ticket Holders Line where you'll prepare to board the ferry to Liberty Island. Thanks to your guide, once on board you'll know exactly where to stand or sit for the best views and photos. When you arrive at Liberty Island the experience of your guide will help you stay one step ahead of the crowds as you prepare the enter the Statue of Liberty.
Once inside the pedestal you'll get a great opportunity for a photo with the original torch of the Statue of Liberty before your guide leads you through her museum where you'll learn more than you could imagine about the iconic lady including why she's here, what she's made from and how, and who we can thank for her being here.
From there you'll make your way up to the observation deck of the statue's pedestal. There you'll have the opportunity for great views and photos and your guide will point out and explain what you're seeing and answer any questions you may have about the harbor, the skyline or the statue, and of course, your guide will be there to take photos of your group in all the best spots.
After visiting the Statue of Liberty you'll get back on the ferry and make your way over to Ellis Island where your guide will transport you back in time as you follow the footsteps of the immigrants. You'll disembark the ferry and visit the Baggage Room and The Great Hall before descending the Stairs of Separation to the Kissing Post. Each of these places has a story and your guide will be there to share them all and when you board the ferry to return to Manhattan you'll understand completely how Ellis Island earned it's nickname 'Island of Hope, Island of Tears.'
There are 2 airport-style security checks required to visit the Statue of Liberty. Prohibited items include; weapons, alcoholic beverages, scissors, pocket knives etc.
Food and drink may be taken through the first check but will NOT be permitted inside the Statue of Liberty. Backpacks, including ladies backpack style purses are not allowed inside the Statue of Liberty. Upon arrival at Liberty Island these items must be placed inside a locker, before the second security check, and retrieved at the time of exit.
Strollers and large umbrellas will also not be allowed inside, these items must be checked at the gift shop before entering.
Water in plastic bottles and any medicinal items are allowed.
Cell phones and cameras are permitted.
At certain times of the year tablets (Ipads etc) are NOT permitted inside the pedestal and must be placed in a locker before entering.
