Must-See Holiday Windows in NYC

When touring the city during the holiday season, one of the best parts of the big department stores are the beautiful and intricate window displays. New York’s retailers spend weeks planning their holiday displays. Many stores work tirelessly to create memorable designs to put everyone in the holiday spirit. These window displays are all set up, and will stay up until the beginning of the new year. Which are the must-see holiday windows in NYC?

Barney’s on Madison and 61st street creates a whimsical and very modern-looking design every year. “Love, Peace, and Joy” is the theme for this year’s display, creating multiple technicolor designs; with a unique one in each window.

Tiffany and Co. takes the window designs to a higher class with beautiful re-imaginations of the city, created in part with the jewelry they sell. See the Rockefeller Christmas Tree re-imagined in silver, gold, and pearls.

Lord & Taylor created a stunning display, as it has for over 75 years in a row. This year, the display is centered around a design of an “Enchanted Forest,” where animals in a snowy forest are shown sleeping, ice-skating, and coming together. The unique, hand-crafted animal sculptures are a testament to the care put into the window design.

Macy’s in Herald Square as usual created a wonderful window design under the theme of “Believing in Magic.” Their design incorporates technology with classic holiday themes; including a hand scan to see if you are naughty or nice. From a family tree with hundreds of crystals, Santa’s workshop, these windows are sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

Bloomingdale’s has created a holiday window display focused around a series of brilliant chandeliers, each crafted by a different artist. The beautiful and colorful designs are all one-of-a-kind; and will be auctioned off at the end of the season for the Child Mind Institute.
